PC Based Intruder Detection & Alert System

In the current world, security concerns have increased alarmingly since thieves and robbers are exploiting the rapid technical advancements to a great extent. Sophisticated surveillance techniques are the need of the hour. Video surveillance and monitoring are the current technologies that come to our rescue. These techniques can help us in monitoring and capturing the area of interest continuously. However, most of these techniques assist only in detecting the crime and can’t be used to curb the crime while it is actually taking place. In this paper, we present a methodology to circumvent this drawback. Once an intruder has been detected in the live streaming, the system will activate an alert unit, capture the frame and using a GSM modem, a text message will also be sent to the authorized person. This system thus helps to detect the intruder in a video stream environment with an idea to ensure that the monitoring system not only actively participates in stopping the crime, but does so while the crime is actually taking place.
